Pastor's Corner
Parson to Person
By Pastor Mary Miller, Interim Senior Pastor
 “This church is terrific!”

Last Sunday there was a trio of visitors who grabbed me as they were departing.
“This church is terrific!” they said in different ways, over and over again. What a wonderful experience it is to have newcomers reiterate an old but constantly new truth. God has blessed this church!

Do you remember when you discovered it? Perhaps you came for Christmas services and the welcome was authentic. It may be when you were away at college when you realized the fellowship here was more important than you thought.
One person told me that when he was unemployed, the Sanctuary was the one safe place he could talk to God about it. Another cited her own abusive home-life and the soul friends here who listened and prayed with her. Others reconnected when their babies were to be baptized but stayed for the ensuing discipleship process. A piano teacher spoke wisely too, saying, “The music just fills me—like the Holy Spirit.”

Perhaps you were invited by others at Covenant Village to church and because there was a bus, you tried it—then grew to love the prayers and sermons. Maybe you had a scary health prognosis and were able to walk through it by including a pastor.
In the midst of constant politics, Connecticut weather (!), interim pastors, changing economy, etc., the light of Christ’s love shines through Bethany!

Emmanuel, God, is already with us!
